The city of Mozart
One of the most beautiful cities in Europe and has been carefully preserved over the centuries. It is divided by the Salzach River into two parts - the “Old City” and the “New City” and is surrounded by spectacular landscape, lakes, Alpine foothills and mountain peaks. Salzburg's "Old Town" (Altstadt) with its world famous baroque architecture is one of the best-preserved city centres north of the Alps.
The city of Salzburg reflects 2000 years of history. The palaces, archbishops’ churches, squares and fountains, and most notably the Fortress, reflect the love of splendor of the once powerful archbishops who ruled the city.
Salzburg is known worldwide as the city of Mozart. In fact, much of the town still looks the same as it did in Mozart’s days. The home where Mozart was born and another where Mozart's family lived, have been turned into museums.
Finally a boat trip along the river Salzach is the perfect way to enjoy the magnificent views of the city and its surroundings.
